If you are like me, then you enjoy coming home from a good day’s work and enjoying your home. To me, there is nothing better than kicking back on the patio with a beer in hand and hanging out with family and friends. It’s great to have a place that feels comfortable and looks good too. That’s what we envision for you when we are creating your outdoor scenery through Cambridge Landscapes. Take Hardscaping – this encompasses patios, walkways, retaining walls, fire-pits, outdoor kitchens, and fireplaces. However, Hardscaping can also contain pergola, pavilions, cabanas, water features, and more. To fully appreciate the range of Hardscaping ideas, I’ll take you through a recent job created by Cambridge, and how we met our customer’s needs through these features.
Rebecca in Furlong, PA had built a new home and wanted to create such a serene setting for her family in the backyard. We talked about the hardscaping ideas that she had, given her budget and available square footage. She definitely wanted a fire-pit and a patio for entertaining and family comfort.
We decided on a propane fire-pit and creating a patio using Cambridge three-piece ledge stone and EP Henry single and double-side cast stone wall. We also added stairs descending from the back sliding doors, PVC railing, low-voltage lighting, and columns end-capping a sitting wall.
Our Architect, Tim, created a full-scale design of the front and back of the house with the features that we discussed. Rebecca loved the hardscaping ideas and we set about creating this backyard masterpiece.
The result lent to a beautiful resort-like feeling for the home. Now when the family comes home they can unwind or invite people by and enjoy a fully functional backyard entertainment area, rather than looking at an empty plot of land.
Now to create an elegant entryway in the front of the home, we crafted a flowing walkway that led from both the driveway and the entrance of the home to a circular landing. From the circular landing, we stepped the walkway gradually down to the community sidewalk.
The topping on the cake is the picturesque landscaping that we also installed both front and back of the home. A variety of low-maintenance perennials and shrubs, artfully placed in black-mulch landscaping beds polished off the edging of the Hardscaping and blended it well to the rest of the lawn. We also added a few specialty items such as a Serpentine Blue Atlas Cedar and a Weeping Maples Tree for a little dramatic effect.
By the time we were finished, Rebecca couldn’t have been happier and is now the envy of all her new neighbors.
Some good hardscaping ideas can really change the look of your home as well as add value to the property. We, at Cambridge Landscapes, enjoy helping you create the dream look for your home or office. When you feel good at home with the job we’ve done, we feel good when we kick back at home at night and enjoy our own little slice of paradise.
